Russia an inch away from a third title
Russia is an inch away from securing their third consecutive European Champion title in the Women Section. In the 8th round Russia defeated France 3-1 and kept the advantage ahead of Poland. With only one round left, Russia has 15 match points and 23 individual points, while Poland has 13 and 21, respectively.
In a tightly contested match, Poland defeated the Czech Republic. WGMs Jolanta Zawadska and Joanna Majdan Gajewska were victorious in their games and GM Monika Socko drew on the first board.
Georgia and Ukraine remain on the high positions after winning against the teams of Bulgaria and Hungary, respectively. The two teams share the 3rd place with 12 points each, two match points ahead of the rest of the field.
